In a major policy shift, the Government of India has resolved that any terrorist incident targeting the nation will henceforth be treated as an act of war, triggering a proportionate and decisive military response, according to senior official sources. The landmark decision was finalized during a high-level security review on May 10, 2025, convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence. Present were Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
