A Delhi court discharged former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The court stated that the prosecution failed to establish even a prima facie case against the accused and that no grave suspicion was raised. The court observed that the prosecution case does not survive judicial scrutiny and criticised the agency for implicating them without material evidence. The court noted that when documents were examined together with statements, it showed there was administrative deliberation, no criminal intent, and no conspiracy. The court further stated that the prosecution narrative suffers from internal contradiction. Sunita Kejriwal reacted stating that truth will prevail. The CBI had alleged that Arvind Kejriwal was one of the prime criminal conspirators and that the excise policy was changed under Manish Sisodia’s watch to generate illegal proceeds of crime for the Aam Aadmi Party.
