Legendary actor and film director Manoj Kumar, known as ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his patriotic films, has passed away at 87 in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Kumar, recipient of Filmfare and Dadasaheb Phalke Awards, was renowned for films like ‘Kranti’, ‘Roti Kapda Aur Makaan’, ‘Purab Aur Paschim’, and ‘Upkaar’. He was a pioneer of patriotic cinema in India, creating a niche for himself in the 1960s and 1970s with his distinctive style and persona.
