Protests for Ladakh statehood turned violent, resulting in four deaths and multiple injuries. The Home Ministry has accused activist Sonam Wangchuk of inciting the unrest through provocative statements. In response, Wangchuk described government efforts as "too little, too late" and attributed the violence to public anger over unmet demands. Amid the tense situation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a preliminary inquiry into alleged Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act violations by Wangchuk’s NGO. While no FIR has been lodged, Ladakh authorities cancelled the land allotted to the NGO in August. A political blame game has also erupted, with the BJP accusing a Congress councillor of instigating the violence.
