Ladakh Leaders, MHA to Hold Preparatory Talks Ahead of October 6 Dialogue | Looking Forward
Amid the recent unrest in Ladakh, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has blamed climate activist Sonam Wangchuk for the situation. The MHA has reached out to the Leh Apex Body (LAB).
A seven-member group of Ladakh leaders will meet with MHA officials in New Delhi on Saturday. This meeting comes ahead of talks between the Centre and Ladakh leaders on October 6.
LAB co-chairman Chering Dorjay said LAB members and MHA representatives had a meeting yesterday in Leh. This meeting followed Wednesday’s violence, which resulted in four deaths and 80 injuries.
Since the violence, authorities have imposed a curfew in the Leh district and restrictions under Section 163 in the nearby Kargil area. These measures aim to prevent protests and maintain order. Police have detained around 50 people. The curfew has remained in effect for a third day as of Friday.
