An anti-terror operation to flush out a Lashkar group has entered its eighth day in the Ahal forest area of Kulgam. This is the longest gun battle in recent times. So far, three terrorists have been killed, and nine soldiers have been injured in the ongoing operation. Firing and blasts continue through the night as forces intensify efforts to corner the heavily armed Lashkar group members. The operation is complex due to the dense forest terrain and the group’s equipment, including night vision goggles and long scopes. They appear well-versed in jungle warfare, making the operation tricky for security agencies. Locals in the Achal village, at the foothills of the forest, have been disturbed, with many moving out. Authorities have issued emergency numbers. Security agencies are deploying UAVs and drones to locate the well-entrenched hideouts of the Lashkar group, which possesses significant ammunition.
