Paschim Banga Chhatra Samaj leader Sayan Lahiri, who was arrested on August 27 for playing a major role in holding the ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ rally, on Saturday reiterated his demand, seeking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s resignation "on moral grounds".
Lahiri was granted bail as the Calcutta High Court said that the student leader appeared to be a "minor figure" without any significant position of power or influence in the broader call for justice over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a Kolkata hospital earlier this month.
