The party alleges that one of the accused, Zaib, was admitted to South Kolkata Law College despite low marks, questioning the admission process. The BJP also claims that the main accused, Monojit Mishra, has links to the TMC. The Trinamool Congress has distanced itself from the accused and accused the BJP of politicizing the issue.
