In J&K’s Kishtwar region, a flash flood triggered by a cloudburst on the 14th of August has caused widespread destruction. Around 60 people have been killed, with 70 to 80 individuals still missing. Over 50 people have been injured. J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Chasoti village in Kishtwar district to assess the damage and meet affected families. Rescue and relief operations are underway, involving the Army, Air Force, STRF, NDRF, and J&K Police. JCB machines are clearing debris as authorities work to trace the missing. J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah said after rescue and relief operations conclude, he will conduct an inquiry to see whether the MET department warnings were ignored on the pilgrimage route.
