A devastating cloudburst in the Kishtwar area of Jammu and Kashmir has triggered flash floods, with at least 40 people feared dead and reports indicating nearly 200 are still unaccounted for. The incident occurred near the base camp for the Machhal Mata Mandir yatra, sweeping away tents set up for devotees. Two CISF jawans are among the deceased. A massive multi-agency rescue operation involving the Army, NDRF, and SDRF is underway, but efforts are being hampered by heavy rain and washed-out roads. According to a local witness cited by a union minister, it was an event more catastrophic than anything seen in their lifetime.
