A cloudburst event in the Chishoti area of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, has led to reports of at least 12 fatalities. This incident initiated flash floods and a landslide, affecting the Machhel Mata Yatra pilgrimage route. Structures, including langar tents for devotees, were displaced by the water, resulting in the suspension of the annual yatra. Rescue operations are in progress, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Army, and local police deployed to the site. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh confirmed the activation of these rescue efforts. Challenges to relief work include the remote, mountainous terrain and prevailing adverse weather conditions.
