A row has erupted in Kerala following the participation of vice-chancellors from five universities in an educational conference organised by an RSS outfit and inaugurated by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Kerala’s Education Minister, V. Shivam Kutty, condemned the action, stating, "The news that the vice chancellors of 5 universities in the state are participating in an event led by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is very much worrying." The minister asserted that the education sector must remain independent and neutral from political ideologies. This incident occurs amid ongoing friction between the state government and vice-chancellors over allegations of politicising universities. At the event, Mohan Bhagwat stated, "Bharat is a proper noun. It should not be translated. India is Bharat. Bharat is Bharat." The development may lead to further protests by student unions like the SFI.
