The district, initially under a red alert on July 16, has now been placed under an orange alert for July 17 and 18 and a yellow alert for July 19 and 20. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted extremely heavy but intermittent rainfall, estimating 204.4 mm of rain on July 16.
