Authorities in Kerala are on high alert after containers from a sunken cargo ship began washing ashore along the coast. The Liberian vessel, which sank off Kochi, was carrying over 640 containers, including 13 with hazardous materials. Containers have been found in Kollam, Alappuzha, and Thiruvananthapuram districts. Officials are concerned about potential chemical leaks, especially from containers carrying calcium carbide, which can release flammable acetylene gas when in contact with seawater.
