A Kerala couple, known as Tommy and Shiny, have allegedly duped hundreds of investors in Bengaluru through a chit fund scam spanning 25 years. The couple, who ran A&E Chit Fund Finance Ltd., promised returns of up to 20% to investors, many of whom were fellow church members. Over 480 complaints have been registered, with individual losses ranging from 20 to 40 lakh rupees. The total amount involved in the scam is estimated to be between 200 to 300 crores. The couple, originally from Alappuzha, Kerala, have reportedly fled to Kenya. Police have registered a criminal case and are considering issuing a lookout notice.
