A war of words has erupted over Kerala’s political future. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has stated that a vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will lead to a change in the festival of Onam and will "kill the culture of Kerala." This statement follows Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s vow that the BJP would secure a 25% vote share in the next Kerala polls and win the elections. Vijayan’s comments directly counter the BJP’s assertion of its growing influence in the state. The Chief Minister has accused the party of posing a threat to the state’s cultural identity. He is quoted as saying, "if you vote for the BJP, they will go to any extent to kill the culture of Kerala."
