Congress leader Shama Mohamed has raised concerns over the low representation of women in the party’s ticket allocation for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections. Highlighting that only 9 out of around 90 seats have been allotted to women candidates, she termed the situation disappointing and called for greater inclusion.
The issue has reignited an ongoing debate within the Congress over gender representation, with similar concerns raised during previous elections as well. Party leaders have pointed out that grassroots women workers continue to be overlooked despite their contributions.
Shama Mohamed has urged the party leadership to address the imbalance and ensure better representation for women in future elections, as the controversy adds to the political discourse ahead of the polls.
