Anarchy has unfolded on the streets of Kathmandu as the prime minister’s resignation fails to quell violent protests. Demonstrators have attacked and set fire to multiple key locations including the presidential palace, the Supreme Court, and the Singh Durbar secretariat. Protesters have also taken over the Supreme Court. Businesses and private properties, such as the Hilton Hotel and a Nepal Telecom office, were also targeted and set ablaze. Despite a joint statement from the chiefs of the army and police, along with top bureaucrats, appealing for calm after the resignation was accepted, the situation has deteriorated.
