Following a tragic stampede in Karur that claimed 40 lives, a political blame game has commenced in Tamil Nadu. The state’s Governor has sought an explanation from the Chief Minister about the venue chosen for the TVK campaign. This comes as AIADMK General Secretary EPS criticised the police for alleged bias in security deployment at political events. Both the AIADMK and TVK have accused the Stalin-led government of assigning venues where mishaps are more likely. In response, DMK leaders have denied the accusations. Amid the political fallout, TVK has approached the Madras High Court seeking an independent probe.
