Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened Kartavya Bhavan, an important building in the Central Vista redevelopment project in New Delhi. This new government complex is meant to bring major ministries together under one roof. It includes Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, DoPT, Petroleum & Natural Gas, and the Principal Scientific Adviser’s office. The building covers 1.5 lakh square meters and has modern facilities like conference rooms and parking for 600 vehicles. It aims to improve how the government works, how it coordinates, and how it delivers services to the public.
Kartavya Bhavan represents India’s move from colonial-era government buildings to a modern and unified approach to governance. The name "Kartavya," which means duty, captures a spirit of responsibility and commitment to public service. It emphasizes the importance of acting in the interest of others rather than just oneself. PM Modi pointed out that Kartavya marks both the start and the goal of India’s development, linking it to the fundamental values of democracy and the Constitution.
