Karnataka’s ₹10 Cr Grant to Wayanad Sparks BJP Criticism, Row Over Politics vs Humanitarian Aid

The Karnataka government’s decision to grant ₹10 crores to Wayanad Constituency in the neighbouring state of Kerala has ignited a significant political controversy. The funds are designated for the families of 100 recent landslide victims. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly objected, alleging a misuse of taxpayer money by what it describes as a "cash-strapped" state. The opposition claims the grant is an act of political appeasement towards the Gandhi family, as Wayanad is Priyanka Gandhi’s constituency. One critical voice stated, "Just because Priyanka Vadra is a MP, there is a political commitment for the present regime in Karnataka, they have given 10 crores." In response, supporters of the move defend it as a humanitarian gesture, accusing the BJP of attempting to create a divide between the two states. The debate also includes counter-allegations of unequal fund distribution and concerns over Karnataka’s financial health.
