The Karnataka High Court has granted temporary relief to actor Ranveer Singh in the Kantara mimicry case, directing that no coercive action be taken against him until the next hearing scheduled for Monday. The case arose after devotees of Daiva filed a petition and FIRs were registered at High Ground Police Station following a viral video showing Ranveer Singh mimicking a scene from the film Kantara on stage. The actor’s counsel informed the court that Ranveer Singh had issued an apology on Instagram, stating the mimicry was meant as an actor-to-actor gesture and he was deeply regretful. The High Court observed that the actor should have respected the sentiments of people. Ranveer Singh had filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking to quash the FIR registered against him. The video showed him imitating a particular scene where a female ghost possesses a character, a performance from the film Kantara.
