In a major political controversy, a survey by the Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority (KMEA) has found that 91.31% of respondents believe elections are free and fair, with 83.61% expressing trust in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The report, titled ‘Evaluation of End-line Survey of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice’, contradicts the ‘vote-chori’ allegations made by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. While the BJP has used the data to question Gandhi’s claims, the Congress has dismissed the findings, alleging the survey was conducted by the NGO GRAAM, whose founder Dr. R. Balasubramaniam is linked to the Prime Minister’s Office. India Today’s Nagarjun Dwarkanath reports on the political fallout.
