In a sharp political exchange, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has hit back at Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over his criticism of the demolition drive in Bengaluru. Responding to Vijayan’s ‘bulldozer Raj’ comment regarding the clearing of encroachments in Fakir Colony and Wasim Layout, Shivakumar stated, ‘Without knowing the fact I should, Mr. Pinaroy , I should not interfere with our state affairs.’ He termed Vijayan’s remarks as ‘political gimmicks’ ahead of elections. Shivakumar asserted that the land was government property intended for a dumping yard but emphasized that the state government has ‘humanity’ and plans to rehabilitate eligible displaced persons. The Deputy CM dismissed allegations of minority targeting, clarifying that the drive was strictly against illegal encroachments on government land.
