A power struggle is intensifying within the Karnataka government as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah contemplates a major cabinet reshuffle. This move is seen as a strategy to secure his position amidst an alleged 2.5-year power-sharing agreement with Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivkumar. The Chief Minister is reportedly planning to drop around 15 ministers in November and will host a dinner for his cabinet on October 13th to discuss the matter. While the Congress high command remains non-committal, the BJP has seized on the infighting, with one representative stating there is “0% government, 100% corruption” in the state. A Congress spokesperson, however, described the potential reshuffle as a routine process to introduce new faces and utilize experienced ministers for party work ahead of the 2028 elections.
