One MLA publicly referred to Shivkumar as the party’s "political guru," stating that both the public and party cadre wish for him to become Chief Minister. In response to the speculation, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah remains firm on his stand to continue for the next two and a half years. However, he also stated that he would abide by any decision made by the party’s High Command. He said, "If it decides so, Siddharamaiah says he will follow what the High Command says."
