The surcharge will be added to existing bills for the 2025-26 financial year. This comes after recent price increases on essential items like milk. The BJP has criticised the Dharamayya government, claiming the freebie model has collapsed. Simultaneously, a proposal for a 100% salary hike for MLAs has been put forward.
