Kannada actress Ranya Rao has been arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for gold smuggling. The daughter of a DGP-ranked officer, Rao allegedly misused her father’s position to evade security checks at Bengaluru International Airport. She reportedly made 27 trips to Dubai in 2024 alone, smuggling gold using modified clothing. Authorities seized gold bricks, biscuits, and ₹2 crore in cash from her residence.
