The Speaker will request the names of a Supreme Court judge and a High Court Chief Justice for the committee. The third member, a distinguished jurist, will likely be decided by the Speaker and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. According to a journalist, “his opinion is sought in interest of judicial independence. So that it can be a fair inquiry regarding the entire impeachment process.” This step is considered crucial as the impeachment motion has now reached both Houses of Parliament.
