Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing heavy rains, leading to flood situations, cloudbursts, and landslides over the last week. The severe weather has caused damage to infrastructure and loss of human life. The Met Department has issued a fresh 48-hour advisory from Monday evening, warning that heavy rains could trigger more flash floods. In Srinagar, the water level of the Jhelum river is rising. Following a cloudburst in the Kupwara district, one person was injured and property was damaged. As a precaution, schools and colleges in the Rajouri and Poonch districts were shut for Tuesday. Authorities have advised people in hilly and far-flung areas to avoid going near streams, as flash floods can occur rapidly. The advisory urges residents in border and hilly regions to remain alert.
