Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that the number of missing people in the Chishoti village of Kishtawar district is between 70 and 80 following a cloudburst. Speaking to India Today, he confirmed the death toll is around 60 and likely to cross one hundred, calling it an ‘incredible tragedy’. Abdullah mentioned that rescue operations are the current focus, with efforts to find survivors among the missing. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have assured all necessary help, with NDRF and army teams deployed for the multi-force rescue effort. The rehabilitation and potential relocation of the affected population will be addressed after the rescue phase.
