J&K Cloudburst: Minister Visits Kishtwar Disaster Site, Scores Feared Trapped Under Debris

In the aftermath of a massive cloudburst in Chishoti village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has arrived to assess the devastation. Intense relief and rescue operations are being carried out by the NDRF, SDRF, Indian Army, and J&K Police, though efforts are challenged by inclement weather. Dr. Singh, who is the local MP, is being briefed by top officials on the mammoth task of tracing missing people. The official death toll has been identified as 53, with a similar number of injured shifted to medical facilities. Highlighting the scale of the search, the minister stated, "Maybe around 200 under this rubble over here." The Prime Minister and Union Home Minister are personally monitoring the situation, and the government has assured all necessary assistance for relief and rehabilitation.
