Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and founder of the JMM, Shibu Soren, passed away at the age of 81 following a prolonged illness. The towering tribal leader had been hospitalized for over a month with kidney-related issues. Following his death, tributes have come from across the political spectrum. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu visited the hospital to meet the family and offer condolences. In a social media post, the Prime Minister stated, “His entire life was dedicated to the welfare of tribal society, for which he will always be remembered.” Soren, a six-time Lok Sabha MP instrumental in the creation of Jharkhand, will be given a state funeral in his native village.
