Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs has strongly criticised the US military action against Iran, calling it a premeditated strike with roots in 30 years of Israeli pressure. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Sachs stated, ‘Everything that is being said is a lie. Not surprisingly, the United States government lies for a living.’ He argued that there was no imminent threat and that the strikes occurred during ongoing negotiations to reestablish a nuclear agreement. Sachs described the situation as a plan for US control over the Middle East and Israeli military hegemony. He warned that the conflict could escalate into World War III, calling the combination of Trump and Netanyahu dangerous. Sachs said roughly three quarters of Americans oppose the military action. He also criticised the credibility of US negotiations and advised India against joining the Quad, warning that hosting US military bases makes countries vassals of the United States.
