In a hard-hitting interview, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, world-renowned economist and public policy analyst, accused US President Donald Trump of either lying or being delusional about Iran deal negotiations. Sachs stated, "You have a President of the United States who either brazenly lies about issues that affect the fate of the planet or alternatively lives in a psychiatric delusion." He pointed out that Trump announced intensive negotiations leading to a comprehensive agreement with Iran, which the Iranian government immediately denied, saying there had been no contact whatsoever. Sachs described Trump’s decisions as "very short term, very erratic, never truthful" and said the President is "surrounded by crooks." He called the US-Israel military action against Iran a "war of aggression" and a "war of whim," launched despite progress in Omani-mediated negotiations. Sachs urged leaders of BRICS nations—India’s Prime Minister Modi, Russia’s President Putin, China’s President Xi, and Brazil’s President Lula—to intervene as "the grown-ups in the world" to prevent Trump from continuing what he termed reckless policies endangering global stability and energy security.
