At least two regions in western Japan have experienced wildfires, causing damage to many homes and requiring the evacuation of scores of inhabitants while hundreds of firemen fought the spreading mountain fire. Large trees were burning on a slope near Iwahari, Ehime Prefecture, and a helicopter was observed sprinkling water on the flames. Five residences have been damaged by the fire that started Sunday afternoon in Okayama, a city in western Japan. Hundreds of people living in the affected region were told to leave.
