In an unusual and generous act, an anonymous donor gifted 21 kilograms of gold bars worth roughly 560 million yen (about $3.6 million) to the Osaka City Waterworks Bureau. The donor specified that the gold should be used to help repair the city’s ageing water pipe infrastructure. Officials said the contribution will support critical waterworks improvements as Osaka works to modernise its deteriorating water system.
