Just days before its scheduled January 9 release, superstar Vijay’s much-anticipated film Jana Nayagan has run into legal and certification hurdles. The Madras High Court is hearing a plea filed by KVN Productions over delays in the grant of a censor certificate. While the producers say required dialogue modifications were already made, the Central Board of Film Certification has informed the court that a reconstituted committee will review the film again. Objections reportedly relate to dialogues that could hurt religious sentiments. The delay has cast uncertainty over the release of the politically charged film, widely seen as Vijay’s final movie ahead of his planned political entry. The court has sought records and responses from the certification board, with the next hearing expected shortly.
