A red alert has been issued in Jammu due to torrential rain, leading to cloudbursts and flash floods that have brought the region to a standstill. Rivers such as the Tawi, Chenab, Basantar, and Ravi are flowing above the danger mark, causing evacuations in low-lying areas. A significant portion of a bridge on the Tawi river has collapsed, and landslides in Ramban have blocked the critical Jammu-Srinagar highway. In response to the crisis, authorities have suspended the Vaishno Devi and Shiv Khori Yatras. Rescue operations involving the Army, NDRF, and local police are underway to move stranded families to safety.
