The 8th India-Japan Indo-Pacific Forum, hosted by the Delhi Policy Group (DPG) and the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), took place on November 5, 2025, in New Delhi. External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar delivered a keynote address emphasizing the deepening strategic and economic partnership between India and Japan. He highlighted how this collaboration enhances stability in the Indo-Pacific amid global challenges, including maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific, bolstering supply chains, and investing in emerging technologies such as AI, critical minerals, clean energy, and space. Jaishankar noted the partnership’s evolution through initiatives like the Industrial Competitiveness Partnership, Clean Energy Partnership, and Semiconductor Supply Chain Partnership, underscoring Japan’s role as a key contributor to India’s economic progress.
He also referenced recent bilateral discussions at the East Asia Summit in Kuala Lumpur with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, during which the two agreed on a detailed review to advance ties. The forum fosters Track 1.5 dialogue on shared visions, including alignment with the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and Japan’s Free and Open Indo-Pacific strategy.
