Jaishankar in Moscow: India Counters US on Oil Exports, Stands Firm With Russia | India Today

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, during his visit to Moscow, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, affirming that India-Russia ties remain steady. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade to correct the current imbalance, with calls to increase Indian exports in sectors like pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and textiles. Responding to US tariff pressure over India’s procurement of Russian oil, Jaishankar stated, "We are not the biggest purchasers of Russian oil, that is China. We are not the biggest purchasers of Russian LNG, I am not sure but I think that is the European Union." He mentioned that the US had previously encouraged India to help stabilise global energy markets. The visit also reviewed cooperation in BRICS, SCO, and G20, underscoring India’s commitment to strategic autonomy and a multi-polar world. #indiarussia #sjaishankar #putin #moscow #itwebvideos #geopolitics #foreignpolicy #ustariffs #russianoil #bilateraltrade #strategicautonomy #indiatoday #diplomacy #worldnews #indiaus #sanctions #brics
