A major security lapse at Bengaluru’s Parappanna Agrahara Central Jail is under investigation after undated videos showed notorious inmates, including alleged ISIS recruiter Juhad Hamid Shakeel Manna and serial rapist-killer Umesh Reddy, receiving preferential treatment. Reacting to the exposé, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameswara stated, ‘I will not tolerate this nonsense. Enough is enough. This should not happen again’. The footage, which reportedly shows inmates using mobile phones and watching television, has prompted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to vow strict action and the Home Minister to seek a detailed report from senior police officials. The probe aims to determine how the security breach occurred, how contraband like phones entered the high-security facility, and to identify any officials who may have been complicit.
