The footage has led to an outcry, with the BJP’s S. Prakash and former Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao slamming the Siddaramaiah-led government for a complete collapse of prison administration. According to BJP spokesperson S. Prakash, ‘The Home Ministry has lost complete control over the police department in Karnataka.’ The visuals show prisoners partying, using smartphones, and enjoying special amenities, prompting promises of a high-level inquiry from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G. Parameshwara. The opposition BJP has announced protests, demanding accountability and the resignation of the Home Minister for the gross security lapses.
