In Delhi, Congress MP Randeep Surjewala strongly reacted to the arrest of IYC Chief Uday Bhanu Chib.
He said that protesting against the government cannot be called a crime in a democracy. Surjewala stated that if raising public issues is considered “oppression,” then Congress workers will continue to do it again and again.
He also compared the situation to protests during the Commonwealth Games when BJP leaders had protested but were not called criminals by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Surjewala said the Congress party stands firmly with Uday Bhanu Chib and the Youth Congress members.
