On Friday, Israeli protesters blocked military troops en route to Gaza, urging the government to allow the international flotilla to enter the besieged enclave without interference. Security forces forcibly removed demonstrators, clearing the way for troops and vehicles. Among the protesters, Ella Greenderg Kedear voiced strong solidarity with the Sumud flotilla and detained activists, expressing hope that the Israeli blockade would eventually be lifted.
The flotilla’s interception and the arrest of around 450 activists have ignited protests worldwide, from Latin America to Asia. Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports over 66,200 Palestinians killed and nearly 170,000 wounded in the ongoing conflict, with women and children constituting about half of the fatalities. These figures, though provided by the Hamas-run government, are widely regarded as the most reliable estimates of wartime casualties by U.N. agencies and independent observers.
