Islamic Cleric Criticises Mohammed Shami For Not Fasting During Match, Sparks Controversy

An Islamic cleric has sparked controversy by criticising Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami for not fasting during Ramadan while playing in the Champions Trophy in Dubai. The cleric claimed Shami committed a grave sin by drinking water or an energy drink during the match against Australia. However, Shami’s brother and several Islamic scholars have condemned the cleric’s comments, stating that fasting exemptions exist for travellers and those performing strenuous work.
