An open source investigation highlights Isfahan as a major challenge in the military campaign against Iran by the United States and Israel.
Unlike Fordow and Natanz, which were targeted during Operation Midnight Hammer, Isfahan is protected by deep natural mountains and tunnels.
Reports say the US used Tomahawk cruise missiles to hit tunnel entrances instead of direct strikes. There are also claims that enriched uranium may have been moved to Isfahan before the attacks.
The site is heavily defended with nearby air bases, drone hubs, and missile systems. Even powerful bunker buster bombs like GBU-57 may not be enough to reach its core.
Experts warn that if critical materials are hidden deep inside, a risky ground operation may be required to secure them.
