In a potential strategic shake-up that could unsettle allies across Asia, the Trump administration is considering withdrawing thousands of American troops from South Korea, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
Defence officials familiar with the discussions said the Pentagon is developing an option to redeploy approximately 4,500 troops, moving them to other locations in the Indo-Pacific region, including Guam. The idea is part of an informal policy review on how to recalibrate Washington’s approach to North Korea, two officials confirmed, the WSJ reported.
