Is Israel Losing The War of Influence Over Expansion Of Conflict In Gaza? | India Today

As Israel expands its war in Gaza with the aim of occupying the Strip, it is facing an unprecedented level of pushback from allied Western nations. Expressing grave concern over the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the UK, France and Canada have called on Israel to end the war and increase the flow of aid to the enclave. Unlike past statements, which focused on Israel’s right to self-defence, the latest joint statement by the 3 nations is noted for being unusually stern. The UK not only moved to suspend free trade talks with Israel but, alongside France and Canada is also threatening potential sanctions against the country if it continues the Gaza war.
Israel, of course, reacted to the apparent ultimatum with outrage. Israeli PM Netanyahu said the leaders of the three nations are on the ‘wrong side of history’.While Netanyahu has pushed back against such statements, experts say his actions indicate an acceptance that Israel is losing the global war of influence.
