Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Iran, stated in an exclusive interview that there are no talks or negotiations between Iran and the United States. He said Iran has no plans for mediation, citing past experiences of what he called ‘betrayal of diplomacy’ during nuclear negotiations when Iran was attacked twice within nine months. Baghaei emphasized that Iran is defending itself under Article 51 of the UN Charter against what he termed an illegal war by the US and Israel. He confirmed that multiple countries, including Pakistan, have offered to mediate, but Iran’s focus remains on defending its territory. Baghaei said that US attacks have originated from military bases in Persian Gulf countries, and Iran has coordinated safe passage for some Indian vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that Iran demands reparations for damages and casualties, and called on the international community to hold the US and Israel accountable.
